Peking University Honglou, situated at No. 29, Shatanbei Street (Wusi Street for now), Dongcheng District, Beijing, is one of the former sites of Peking University, the former Imperial University of Peking. Honglou is at the east side of Jingshan Park in the north of the Palace Museum, the north of Wusi Street, and the west of the National Art Museum of China. Of brick-wood structure and H-shaped, Honglou is 100 meters wide in the WE direction. The main building is 14 meters deep in the NS direction and the two wing buildings in the west and the east are 34.34 meters deep in NS direction. With four floors and half a basement, Honglou covers a total area of about 10,000 square meters.

The historically significant building in Beijing took its name for the the red bricks. Since its establishment in 1918, Honglou has become the origin of Chinese advanced minds and cultures. Honglou is also theheadstream of the red culture. After baptism of the New Culture Movement and the May Fourth Movement, a large number of people with lofty ideals learned about and accepted Marxism here. Honglou is also the start of the revolution. The pioneers of Communist Party as the representatives of the advanced social culture wrote down glorious history here. It has become the Beijing Culture Movement Memorial Hall today.
