This church is the spiritual center of the Catholic community on Kefalonia, which has its roots in the time of Venetian rule.
The original parish
was founded as early as 1793. The original building was completely destroyed by the severe earthquake of 1953 and rebuilt in the late 1960s at its current location.
Architecture & Furnishings: The church was built in the Byzantine style with a distinctive yellow bell tower and a blue-domed dome. Inside, there is the famous miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary of Preveza, as well as various statues.
