Originally, there was a bell tower to the north-west of the church, which housed Bagband's three bells. By the end of the 19th century, this tower had become so dilapidated that it could no longer be used. The church council at the time decided to tear down the old bell tower and replace it with a new, slim, 50-meter-high neo-Gothic church tower on the west gable.
