    Hiking

In the middle of the Krottental, an old Forchheimer Scheunenviertel, rises the mighty 1710 built, prince-bishop salt magazine. This served the busy trading town Forchheim until the middle of the 19th century as a salt store.
The trade in salt was then a monopoly of territorial rule and very expensive. In the fortress it was certainly verwart, probably from here the whole southern bishopric was supplied. The Regnitz was then navigable to Forchheim. Could be, the Thuringian salt from Hallstadt by ship was delivered.
