This church, located in Solomos square, is the only Venetian-style building that survived the 1953 earthquake and has been restored maintaining its original features.
Originally the church was built on an island which was connected to the mainland by a bridge, later this island became an integral part of the city.
For many centuries the church belonged to the Guild of Sailors.
Dating back to the 17th century, it is the oldest building in Solomos square, it was built in the Renaissance style except for the bell tower which is more reminiscent of the Byzantine style.
Inside are the liturgical vestments of San Dionisio, the protector of the island, who for a period of his life lent his services in this church.
