The name “Kryoneritissa” derives from the word “Krioneri,” meaning “cold water.” It refers to the nearby cold water springs at the cape.
The church has a long
tradition and was already known as private property at the end of the 16th century. In 1605, it was handed over to the Guild of Coopers (Vytopoioi).
The building is constructed in the style of a single-nave basilica with a tiled roof.
