The Alpe Gera Dam, located in the municipality of Lanzada in the upper Valmalenco valley, is a massive concrete gravity dam stretching approximately 530 meters in length and reaching a height of 160 meters, resembling a 53-story skyscraper. Its reservoir, located 2,128 meters above sea level, holds 68 million cubic meters of water, a capacity comparable to approximately 63,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

The dam is part of the Valmalenco hydroelectric system, which includes the Campo Moro, Lanzada, and Sondrio power plants, and is crucial to the area's green energy production.
