As you could probably tell, this is a two day hike where You should Eat lunch at the Carate and sleep at the Marinelli. Yes you do need to book in advance. On the map it does not show the route to monte delle forbici because my map refused to work after I paused it for lunch. I just did it as a little extra as it was a clear day and I really do recommend doing it as the views are just spectacular and are so panoramic. To find the path there is a sign and it passes the bivacco next to the carate to go up. On the second day please ask at the rifugio Carate if the path for the forcella is suitable as I did the same walk last year and it was covered in snow however this year it was extremely rocky and there were large gaps just waiting to be fallen through. I did bring spikes just in case however I did not seem to have to use them but I would definitely recommend them. The Bignami only serve food in two sitting a in which you would have to check the time of so you should aim to leave the Marinelli at the correct time. It is a beautiful walk and one I have loved every time. It is up there with the best views I have ever seen, I hope you enjoy it just as much as I do!

Lovely route with great views of the Disgrazia and if you’re lucky (unlike me), the Bernina. And further still, the Pizzo Scalino! The route is lovely and is a great place to take photos as there are so many different views. As you go up the Passo Campagneda, clouds can move in very fast causing lots of rain as is what happened to me. With the danger of the rain paired with the chains highlighting the routes’ terrain, I would only recommend doing the passo if you are an experienced hiker. Sturdy footwear is a must have along with plenty of water and a waterproof layer as the weather tends to vary a lot. Remember to check the weather before you start and during your walk and only carry on with the passo if there is no rain. When you look at the sign that points to the passo it says 1 hour and a half although I found that even at a relatively quick pace it will take an extra fifteen or so minutes. If you don’t want to go too extra you can turn left at the big sign before the lago di Campagnedo and the path should take you to the Ca’Runcasch.

The first section of the route is very easy and is more of a road however I realised that as you go from the rifugi up to the glacier the path is a lot more dangerous and technical. This is especially because the path is very difficult to find due to the big rocks. Please note that the path markings are unusually blue and white making it harder to see. The lower part of the walk is very covered due to trees but as you gain altitude there is a lot less cover if not any so definitely wear a hat on a hot day. There is a water fountain in Chiareggio with cold mountain water so I recommend filling up there.
