Eschenau Castle was built around 1570 by Philipp von Gemmingen in the Renaissance style and remodeled in the Rococo style in 1745 by the architect Leopoldo Retti. It stands on the foundations of an older castle, destroyed in 1504, and continues to dominate the townscape of Eschenau. With its castle garden and orangery, it is a cultural and historical highlight and the only Rococo building in Obersulm.
