On the west bank of the 'Yukon River', part of the 'Yukon River Loop Trail' follows the route of the 'Hepburn Tramway', the second tramway built after the success of the 'Macaulay Tramway' in the late 19th century, but soon disappeared again for economic reasons.
Later, the tram route was temporarily used as a road. However, the steep slope with clay soils was not suitable as a base for heavy loads and erosion from the upper slope added to this. The road became a path that ran above the 'Yukon River' as the 'Goat Trail'. With the damming of the river and the formation of 'Schwatka Lake', the continuous track is lost. Parts of the trail still exist today and was temporarily used for the route of the 'Yukon River Trail Marathon'.
