The Brühl train station was opened on February 15, 1844 by the Bonn-Cologne Railway (BCE) on the occasion of the visit of the British Queen Victoria and was the most important stopover between Cologne and Bonn from the beginning. The reception building on the initially single-track line was built according to plans by Johann-Peter Weyer in the line of sight of Augustusburg Castle. Since the route largely ran over stately lands, the royal family was able to exert its influence here.
