Here, just below Altenstein, was the old place of execution of the Lords of Stein von Altenstein. They had a gallows erected in a prominent location, which is where the name Galgenberg comes from. The last sentence was pronounced in 1778 under the linden tree of the then office building, now the rectory, and carried out here.
Numerous mountains got their name from this fact.
The existing stones mark the location of the former place of execution.
You can read all the information about it on the plaque next to it.

In the Middle Ages and the early modern period, public executions took place on a gallows hill, also called a gallows hill, gallows hill or gallows hill. Hundreds of hills or mountains in the German-speaking world have these names.Source: de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galgenberg
