The castle Raueneck should have been built around the year 1180. The name does not refer to a rough, but a wooded corner, which denotes the location in the forest. Over time, however, this has gradually lessened. Where a masonry stone bridge now forms the transition to the castle, a wooden drawbridge formerly secured the corner. The castle stood on a rock spur and was well secured from all sides.

The castle ruins with a nature trail invite you to explore and discover. The ruin offers beautiful photo opportunities, a table with benches a resting place with a view. I'm completely alone here on Friday lunchtime.

A really great destination for the whole family. There are numerous information boards for those interested in history and a lot to explore for children. The walls and towers are partly well preserved.
