The overburden of the Ewald coal mine towers over 100m high and can be tackled up to the asphalt. Above you can expect beautiful views over the area to the Rhine (Walsum power plant, Langenberger transmitter or the mountain ranges in the Hard at Haltern).
But also a sundial with which the date can be determined and the horizon observatory will cast a spell on you. On the plateau above, there are many well-paved paved roads.
A visit to the exhibition new horizons is recommended for those who want to understand the horizon observatory.Up here on the Stonehenge and the Nebra disc is closer than you would expect.
