The Balkenscharte (2,172m) lies between the Fuchskarspitze (n) in the north and the Kreuzkarspitze in the south. It can be reached from Prinz-Luitpold via the walking area without any particular difficulties. There are a few metal steps on the last few meters. From the Balkenscharte you can either continue to the northeast in the direction of Brunnental or you can follow the path to the southeast (both marked), which leads you to the ascent to the Hochvogel via the Kalten Winkel.

From the Balkenscharte there is a beautiful view of the Brunnental.
