Hiking
Today's wall is the so-called El-Jazzar Wall. It was expanded and doubled in width by Ahmed El-Jazzar after Napoleon's attack. Furthermore, huge towers were built to protect the walls from direct attacks.
Predecessors to these walls were built by the Shia Fatimids and the Crusaders. However, this was destroyed in 1291 by the Mamluks and only rebuilt in 1750 by Dahar El-Omar.

Hiking
Although not the original walls anymore standing on them gives you a feeling on the challenges to defend this ancient crusader town at its strategic, but quite exposed location. Some of the old ports are still intact an can be visited.
