The market square with its impressive monument in the middle is still being used as a weekly market on Thursdays. Apparently this square has been used as a market since the 13th Century.

Various shops around the square, including a well stocked sweet shop if that's what you need. Lovely chips from Jingling Lane chippy, immediately next to the square.
