Road cycling

Riding North to South is a series of do-able ramps for cyclists used to Yorkshire Dales hills. This side is exposed, so head wind from east (unusual) made it harder to ride up.
Riding South to North from Slaidburn is a series of steep up and downs so rider needs to be fitter. This side is more sheltered but much steeper. Also think about where you want to end up as you may not want to go back same way.
