Bergeijk is inextricably linked to the Utrecht architect Gerrit Rietveld and the Amsterdam Mien Ruys. In Bergeijk, Rietveld designed several unique objects in the 1950s: a clock, a bus shelter, two residential houses and his only industrial work: Weverij De Ploeg, currently an art gallery with surrounding sculturen park. This makes Bergeijk the most diverse legacy of this furniture designer and architect who was associated with the art movement 'De Stijl'.
