The double arch bridge Nordsternpark is a foot and cycle path bridge over the Rhine-Herne Canal in the area of the Nordsternpark. It connects the districts of Gelsenkirchen-Horst with Gelsenkirchen-Heßler.
The bridge designed by Prof. Polonyi was built for the 1997 Federal Garden Show. It is an arch bridge with a suspended bridge panel and an orthotropic plate. The double arch bridge spans the Rhine-Herne Canal at km 21.6 right next to the newly built amphitheater. It has a total length of almost 110 m, an arrow height of approximately 36 m, an arc span of 79 m and a superstructure width of 5.50 m. The arches are made of steel tubes (mass 230 t) and the carriageway slab, crossbars and beams are made of steel. Nice view of the canal and you can see the park almost completely.

Best known building of the Nordsternpark. It is about 100 meters long and 36 meters high and was inaugurated in 1996.
There are two more double arched bridges in Nordsternpark, but they are smaller: one is located above the Emscher and the other is across the street Lehrhovebruch.

The red arch serves the connection Hessler - Horst in the Nordsternpark over the canal. A must, so to speak.
