Bockwindmühle

The post mill in Eldena is one of the oldest mills along the Baltic Sea coast.
It was first mentioned in writing in 1533 during the inventory of the Eldena monastery, which was to be abolished.
For many centuries it stood at this location as part of the monastery and later university property. It is recorded on the Swedish matriculation card from 1698 as well as on all later maps; In the files of the archives you can study her life story in detail: repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt by fires, lightning strikes and the effects of war; often in a desolate, dilapidated condition, as the tenants saw no possibility of repairing the mill due to low yields.
But despite all the destruction and economic difficulties, the mill remained in existence, tenant followed tenant, and grain was milled here on the Mühlenberg in Eldena until 1931/32.
