    The Fulda runs along its route in the more or less deeply eroded Fulda valley.
    In its upper reaches, the valley width is sometimes only a few meters up to 250 m and later up to 500 m.
    Around Bad Hersfeld and Bebra, the valley is a maximum of 1.3 km wide and here, near Guxhagen, again only a few hundred meters.
    Only at the confluence of the Eder, northwest of Guxhagen, does the Fulda flow through a plain that is up to 3 km wide. At Hann. Münden, as a source river of the Weser, it flows again through a narrow valley, which is often only a few hundred meters wide.
