    From the end of the Middle Ages to the middle of the 19th century, the legal area of the city of Landshut was called Burgfrieden. Peace means a fenced, enclosed area. Burg does not only refer to Trausnitz Castle but to the entire city of Landshut.

    Between 1603 and 1823, the people of Landshut erected 43 truss columns, with which they made the boundaries of their truce widely recognizable. They built the XIV column here on the Landshuter Höhenwanderweg in 1766. Two repairs took place in the following decades. Towards the middle of the 19th century, the castle peace columns lost their importance.
