The church was first mentioned in 1379. It was later damaged in wars, being destroyed in 1582 and 1630. The church was also damaged during the Great Northern War when it was burned down on July 18, 1702. A temporary wooden church was built in its place until 1742 when the stone church dedicated to Saint Andrew was completed, which still stands today.

The design of the nave and chancel dates back to 1861. At that time, the main portal received a segmented front in the classicist style and Tuscan pilasters. The wooden tower clad in neo-baroque style was erected in 1873. The Calvary altarpiece, depicting Christ on the Cross, was completed in Munich in 1883.

The current church organ was built by the Kriisad brothers in 1924 and has 2 manuals and 24 registers (translated from Wikipedia).
