The writing on the sign is Sütterlin, an old German script. It says "Hirsch-Eiche", and not: "Gustl-Eiche". Oh yes: the i-dot is missing on the "i" in "Hirsch". It took me a while to read it and a while to understand why the tree is listed as the hiking highlight "Gustl Oak". But if you don't even know Sütterlin, you can get this idea. I suggest a change.
    A few more details:
This typeface was developed in 1911 by the graphic artist Ludwig Sütterlin on behalf of Prussia as a simplification of the "Kurrent" typefaces that had been common up until then. Goethe wrote in Kurrent, for example. Sütterlin was taught in this slightly slanted variant in Germany from 1935 to 1941. From 1942 a Latin script was used in schools. Sütterlin was banned from schools until the end of the war. After the war, Sütterlin was given additional instruction.

The tree is probably at least 300 years old, but no one knows whether it was originally planted or self-sown. Circumference: 4.80 meters, the height is estimated at 30 meters.

Hike on the Taunus ridge in the middle of old trees. The Taunus main ridge in the High Taunus refers to a 75-kilometer-long ridge line that consists of hard Taunus quartzite veins in the geological core and separates the steeply sloping Vordertaunus in the south from the gradually sloping mountain terrain of the Hintertaunus in the north.
