The rattle rises in the nature park Rhein-Taunus. Its summit lies to the east of the Taunus main ridge in the district of the Wiesbadener local district Naurod. Neighboring Wiesbadener Gemarkungen near the mountain Sonnenberg in the west and Rambach in the east. On the other side of the ridge lies the Neuhofer Siedlung Platte in the northwest and a few meters west of it.The rattle is wooded. Near the summit is the approximately 300 year old deer oak. North of the rattle lies the nature reserve Theißtal of Niedernhausen. Parts of the nature conservation area Wiesbaden and the fauna-flora-habitat area Buchenwälder north of Wiesbaden are located on the mountain.Immediately to rattle do not lead roads. Passing the neighboring cairn and local hunting lodge Platte runs the federal highway 417. From there you can walk on the following paths, some of which share sections of the route, to the rattle. About the 330 m west of the summit lying crossroads octagon and a few meters north past this summit, the right bank Rheinhöhenweg. The European long-distance hiking trail E3, the Taunushöhenweg and the jubilee circular walk around Wiesbaden run through this intersection and the summit area of the southern slope.
