The Königsbau Stuttgart was built in the mid-19th century in late-classicist style and forms the western boundary of Schlossplatz. Destroyed during the war, the former business building was rebuilt in 1958/59.
The impressive colonnade of 34 columns has a length of 135 meters and characterizes the entire building. Once upon a time there were magnificent Hoffe eggs - today, cafes and enjoyment invite you. And behind the Königsbau today lures the shopping center Königsbau Passagen Stuttgart with 25,000 square meters of retail space and restaurants.

The Königsbau was built between 1856 and 1860 on behalf of King Wilhelm I in the late Classicist style as a commercial, concert and ballroom. The royal court architect Christian Friedrich von Leins together with architect Johann Michael Knapp received the building contract. The monumental building was intended to form a counterpoint to the New Castle and is characterized by a colonnade consisting of 34 columns, which is 135 meters long.
The Königsbau was badly damaged in the Second World War and was rebuilt in 1958/59 for the equivalent of 4 million euros. From 1991 to 2002, the Königsbau housed the Stuttgart Stock Exchange, which has meanwhile moved to Börsenstrasse.
