Christiansfeld is also particularly in the sense that the city is planned and built according to the same pattern as the first community of brothers in Herrnhut in Germany. So it did not originate like other small towns in Denmark. The largest part of the city was built from 1773 to 1812. The old district is today a living cultural center in Christriansfeld's heart as a part of everyday life of the inhabitants and the city. Christiansfeld is on the Danish tentative list to be included on UNESCO's World Heritage List as a World Heritage Site. That underlines how special and amazing this city is.
The most beautiful city of the brotherhood of Europe.
The Christian community in Christiansfeld is an independent Protestant community and part of the global brotherhood with cities and communities in many countries. The community's ideology is unaffected by its geographic location, and many of the cities are built just like Christiansfeld. Christiansfeld is known as the most beautiful old brotherhood town in Europe, because the former Christiansfeld is preserved. The buildings are today just as the city was built on command by King Christian VII in 1773.
