If you follow the path along the pond for a short distance into the wildlife park, you will come to Sophie's spring. The spring is just one of several springs around Haderslev Dam, most of which are on the other side of the dam. A funny thing is that you can see several small fountains on the other side of the pond in the front gardens of the villa on Ribe Landevej. These are artesian springs, i.e. springs that are so powerful that they even spring out of the ground. But back to Sophie's source.
This spring rises exactly where the municipal boundary between Gammel Haderslev Municipality and Hoptrup Municipality used to be. The water is very clean, so if you are thirsty you can easily drink it. Where it comes from, groundwater is plentiful and has a constant cool temperature of 8 degrees.Don't be intimidated by the red deposits in the headwater and outflow. It is ochre, i.e. iron, since there is about 100 times more of it in Sophie's spring than in ordinary tap water. It's harmless, yes, some people even think spring water heals, so just drink it.naturstyrelsen-dk.translate.goog/naturoplevelser/naturguider/haderslev-tunneldal/bergs-plads/sophies-kilde/?_x_tr_sl=da&_x_tr_tl=de&_x_tr_hl=de&_x_tr_pto=sc
