The monument is located directly under the 1000-year-old oak tree in Bötersheim. In the center is a small pyramid of fieldstone surrounded by a fieldstone wall.
The names of those who died in World War I are on a metal plaque on the largest erratic boulder. There is also the saying: "He who found death in a holy fight rests in foreign soil in his fatherland." The names of the fallen of World War II are on metal plaques placed on small boulders around the pyramid.

To this day, a memorial service is held in honor of the fallen and missing soldiers in front of the memorial every year on the day of national mourning (two Sundays before the first Advent at 2:30 p.m. in Bötersheim and 3:00 p.m. in Kakenstorf). Citizens, members of the voluntary fire brigade, the pastor of the Sprötze parish and the Kakenstorf parish council are always invited.
Kakenstorf memorial: Under the oaks / corner of Weidenstrasse
Bötersheim memorial: Esteweg (directly in front of the 1000-year-old oak)
