The Waldbühne is a popular meeting point after a Sunday stroll in the Bürgerpark. Morning pint and occasional evening events, but also family celebrations and smaller celebrations, have made the Waldbühne famous. The history of the restaurant goes back to 1890, when the Bremen cigar factory Engelhardt & Biermann had a wooden exhibition pavilion built for the north-west German trade and industry exhibition. Originally intended to be demolished, the pavilion was converted into an inn and a caretaker's apartment in the spring of 1891 after the trade show had ended and it was rebuilt at its current location.
