The Waldbühne is a popular meeting place after a Sunday walk in the Bürgerpark. Morning pints and occasional evening events, but also family celebrations and smaller celebrations, have made the Waldbühne famous. The history of the restaurant goes back to 1890, when the Bremen cigar factory Engelhardt & Biermann had a wooden exhibition pavilion built for the Northwest German Commercial and Industrial Exhibition. Originally intended for demolition, the pavilion was converted into a business and a supervisor's apartment after the end of the trade fair in the spring of 1891 and rebuilt at its current location.
