The Zeppelin Memorial commemorates the landing of the airship LZ 17 "Sachsen" on this hill on July 7, 1914. The occasion was a regional economic exhibition in Bad Liebenwerda. After passengers disembarked and others boarded, the 158-meter-long Zeppelin continued its journey to Leipzig. Commissioned on May 3, 1913, the commercial airship of the Deutsche Luftschifffahrts-Aktiengesellschaft (DELAG), with a gas capacity of 22,500 cubic meters, transported 9,837 passengers on 419 flights, covering a distance of 39,919 kilometers. It was decommissioned in the fall of 1916.
