    Office building

The Salzmeierhaus is an official building in Bad Reichenhall.

The building is a listed building and is entered in the Bavarian list of monuments under number D-1-72-114-93.
The Salzmeierhaus from the 15th or 16th century was formerly the administrative headquarters of the Reichenhaller Saline. The salt mine officials were subordinate to the dukes and later the kings of Bavaria. The Salzmeierhaus was also destroyed in the last major city fire in November 1834. As part of the reconstruction of the city, today's building was built on the same site. However, as part of the new construction of the saltworks, the saltworks administration was relocated to the new civil servants' quarters on Salinenstrasse - directly opposite the new, now old saltworks.

The Bad Reichenhall district court was located in the Salzmeierhaus until 1975. After extensive renovation[1], the building still serves as a police office today.

When Poststrasse was renovated and converted into a pedestrian zone in 1992, a city stream was created between Salzmeierhaus and Spitalgasse. In the area of the Salzmeierhaus, it flows in a historic stream bed with an old border, which was rediscovered and exposed under the guidance of the then city curator Fritz Hofmann.
The Salzmeierhaus is a three-story hipped roof building in two wings. The length of the wings is approximately 43 and 35 meters respectively. After the destruction in the Reichenhall city fire in 1834, it was rebuilt with a classicist facade.

The Salzmeierhaus is a listed building and is also part of the Poststrasse ensemble.
