The town and market church of St. Martinus is considered to be the founding of St. Liudger, the first bishop of Münster commissioned by Charlemagne to evangelize the Münsterland. The first stone church building was built in the 12th century. Parts of the mighty defense tower date from that time. The nave was rebuilt in the 15th century and enlarged in the 19th century. On the south wall of the church there is a sundial from 1616. The crucifixion group in the church by the Münster sculptor Philipp Gröninger from 1722 is worth seeing.
