The 16th or 17th century can be assumed to be the period in which the slender tabernacle pillar was made from Zogelsdorf sandstone, historical data is not available. The inscription in the cartouche would fit in with this, with which in all probability Valentin Prince can be seen as the donor in 1655.
The year 1869 on the shaft is likely to be associated with a later event or renovation. There are various stories about the wayside shrine, for example a Swedish soldier or Prince Valentin the donor is said to be buried under the monument.
