From the Burglay vantage point you have a perfect view of the Moselle near Wintrich. The Romans already appreciated this view. Since the bank at Wintrich is considerably flatter, it was possible to cross over here. From the observation tower on the Burglay, however, the Roman guards always had this point in view.

Another highlight on the Moselhöhenweg is the Burglay, a small elevation on the edge of the slope, from whose height you have a direct view of the lock. This lofty place may have served as a checkpoint for passing merchant ships on the Moselle as early as ancient times.
