Hiking

Right at the junction of federal highways 266 and 477 to Kommern, a district of Mechernich, there is a small chapel, with a (hiking) parking area behind it. The small shrine, whose interior can be viewed through a dividing grille, houses a statue of Saint Severinus, the patron saint of the parish of Kommern. Looking down the valley, one can see the spire of Kommern's church tower above the wall that encloses the castle grounds.
