Due to the sloping terrain here on the Kahlberg, the Germanic tribes sensed their chance and attacked parts of the Roman troops and their entourage.
They probably even managed to inflict heavy losses on the opposing side, as numerous finds (including remains of wagons, helmet parts and other pieces of armor) in the area of this site indicate this. However, spearheads found indicate a successful attack by the Roman cavalry and the following Roman foot troops.
