In 1853 the current Anglican Cathedral, the fourth church on this site, was opened. This gem is an example of Gothic Revival architecture and was designed by architects FW Cumberland and Thomas Ridout. The steep-roofed church is built of brick and features decorative stone carvings, moldings and paneling. The tower, spire, porches, turrets and other architectural details were completed years later due to lack of funds.
