Round stone flour mill of the belt mill type from 1850 for grinding grain. At present, the mill is no longer used for grinding grain.

This belt mill is a mill with a so-called Van Rietwiek system, where the blades rotate without a sail and look like airplane wings. Depending on the wind force, they can be further opened or closed. The rotational speed therefore remains constant and grinding can be carried out in almost all weather conditions. It is the only mill in the Netherlands that has four blades of this Van Rietwijk system.

A national monument in Nispen. This mill is one of the oldest buildings in Nispen and also the only national monument in the village is the Aerden mill. This mill, located on Dorpsstraat in Nispen, was built in 1850 by order of Johannes van de Weijgert from Roosendaal. After four years, he sold the mill to Johannes Ludovicus Aerden from Wouw. His descendants also became millers. Therefore, this mill, which has no official name, became known as "the Aerden mill." Countless villagers and passersby admire the structure, especially when its sails whiz through the air. Together with the church tower, the mill adds cachet to the village landscape of Nispen. This gem of a village deserves to be cherished. Visiting the mill: You can visit the mill when the gate to the building is open. Miller Jos Nieuwlaat will be happy to welcome you and tell you all about the operation and special features of this mill. A dedicated heritage center will open in an annex building at the mill in 2025.
