Description: The Zastlerloch is an imperfectly formed cirque. In winter, the upper edge bears several meters of snow cornices; this snow remains in protected hollows beneath the cornice, known as nivation niches, until late midsummer. These areas would be potential starting points for new glaciation if a new ice age were to break out.
