St. George's Church is one of the oldest branch churches of the former monastery parish of Schäftlarn. A document from the year 778 attests to a donation to the Freising Bishop Arbeo. The current building was constructed between 1729 and 1732 under the direction of the Munich master mason Johann Georg Ettenhofer. The previous building was in such a state "that one had to fear its actual collapse," wrote Abbot Hermann Joseph Frey in his request for the new building. As already mentioned, the site offers a magnificent view over the rooftops of Hohenschäftlarn and the Alps.
