      Ganzmeilensäule Nr. 16

The Kursächsische Postsäulen are historic stone pillars built in the 1700s throughout Saxony to measure distances and mark postal routes. They were built by Saxony's ruler August the Strong in the style of the ancient Romans.

This Ganzmeilensäule (full-mile marker) was crafted from sandstone and dated 1732. It features inscriptions like "Nach Toeplitz 4 1/2 St." on one side and "Nach Dohna 4 1/2 St. Nach Dreßden 8 St." on the other, along with the serial number 16 (counted from Dresden). The tip was renewed in 1985, and as part of the mentioned surveying system, this stone holds considerable historical importance in transportation.
