The central town square is still the center where city life pulsates.

Surrounded by the city tower and the cathedral.
From the City Tower viewing platform you can admire the central square and Koper and its surroundings.
But you can also admire the square with a cup of coffee in one of the oldest coffee houses in Slovenia.
The square was known by different names in the past: e.g. Plathea comunis, Plathea comunitas, Piazza, Piazza Roma, 1946 it was named after Marshal Tito, former President of Yugoslavia.
A few years later, the square was renamed Republic Square, but in 1956 it was renamed Tito Square again.

The piazza and all the old houses and the church around exude a great flair. It's a good place to have a coffee and people-watch 😉.
