The most famous street in the old town – Čevljarska ulica – runs from the central square.

The street got its name because there used to be mainly shoemakers' workshops here. Otherwise, the street is also known under the name of Calegaria.

Traders and craftsmen have settled there for centuries and have their commercial premises on the ground floors of the palaces.
