At the church of Kwerps (the square with the car park at the former swimming pool building) you will find this information board about the walks through Silsombos. Silsombos is a valuable nature reserve between Nederokkerzeel and Erps-Kwerps where calcareous groundwater bubbles up. It
area consists of wet forests, bushes, swampy grasslands, meadows
and oak forests. The southwestern part is called Broekhoven. Seven types of orchids grow there. You will also find the giant horsetail, one of the oldest plant species on earth. They can grow up to two meters in height.

The silsom forest is a paradise for nature lovers who enjoy a brisk walk. As the heart of the valley around the Weesbeek, the Silsombos is a mysterious place where legends and nature are intertwined. The Black Madam, a statue of Our Lady, plays a leading role in this.
