Great route over the bridge with fantastic views of the sound. The bridge is easily accessible by bike. The cars rush past you loudly, but that doesn't really matter because you are rewarded by the great views.

Sallingsundbroen is a bridge that opened in 1978 and crosses Sallingsund in the Limfjord. The Primærrute 26 trunk road runs over it and connects the Danish island of Mors with the Salling peninsula in northern Jutland. The two-lane road bridge is crossed by more than 10,000 vehicles daily (as of 2009).
The 1717 meter long girder bridge, which is supported by two abutments and 18 reinforced concrete pillars, consists of 17 openings of 93 m and two of 51 m.
A passage height of 26 m is available for shipping traffic. After Vilsundbro, in the west of Mors, opened in 1939, expectations for a bridge over Sallingsund rose. However, the plans had to be stopped due to the German occupation of Denmark and did not lead to a final decision until 1966. The bridge, which was finally built between 1973 and 1978, was completed around 40 years later than expected. The building replaced the ferry connection that had existed between Pinen on Salling and Plagen on Mors since the Middle Ages (1873 to 1924 between Glyngøre and Nykøbing Mors).
The opening ceremony on May 30, 1978, at which Queen Margrethe II of Denmark was present, was overshadowed by a bomb threat, so that the bridge had to be closed during the ceremony. The construction of Sallingsundbro led to an increase in the number of commercial settlements on Mors, and Sallingsundbroen is used as the motif on the 50 kroner banknotes. The banknote drawn by artist Karin Birgitte Lund is part of a series published from 2009 to 2011, which among other things has the theme of Danish bridges.
