Located directly on the Eider, the district air park of the sea pilot associations employed almost 100 people. Both small parts and complete floatplanes were stored in this supply depot. Among other things, the floatplanes of the type Junkers 34 were lifted out of and into the water with a 20t lifting crane. The end of the Second World War was also the end of the Tönninger Seaplane Base and the supply depot.
This viewing platform was built by the city of Tönning in 2003 near the old crane location. Here you can enjoy a great view over the Eider to Dithmarschen.translated by
