The stream is bordered by an alder and birch forest. These are sandy, nutrient-poor soils in the Bergische Heideterrasse. The surrounding locations are predominantly planted with conifers. The source areas are separated from the stream by an old railway embankment. The very wet meadow, rich in perennials, is embedded in a swampy alder forest.
